Solomon Franco arrives in Boston.

(Apr.) The Dutch merchant accompanies a cargo shipped to Maj. Gen. Edward Gibbons. The first Jewish resident in Boston, he subsequently becomes embroiled in a dispute over his promised commission, which Gibbons claims should have been paid by the shipper of the goods. Franco is ordered to leave town (“warned out”), and does so soon after.
